This is nothing new, this is pretty common in MMOs. Blade-Soul has everything to do with the way MMOs are developed and how they behave.
Simply put, MMOs are extremely hard to optimize because of the types of tasks they have to perform.
A lot of the tasks that MMOs have to process are locked to single threads, and these are very hard to distribute amoung multiple cores so most developers don't even bother.
MMO work loads are also very unpredictable and with a lot of character customization options, it's very difficult for games to account for the amount of factors that will dictate the amount of data retrieved and loaded.
Literally every MMO except maybe world of warcraft?(and even it runs it to the exact same issues even after more than a decade on the market) has these same issues.
Most korean devs, shirk on optimization because it cuts into development costs and creates a tasking problem where you can optimize certain areas that can become cluttered and problematic when new content is added with Blade & Soul Items. And newer zones can have awful performance when older zones have been optimized and the game will become very jarring.
Simply put, most MMO devs, especially koreans simply don't go for serious optimization because it's so difficult to do on for an MMO.
On my PC, i7 5820K 4.3ghz R9 290X 1020mhz DRR4 2133mhz, Blade and soul regularly hit 80+FPS outside of towns, and sat around 45~60 in 6 player content(Blackram Narrows), then in towns, 25~40FPS. |
